Alexandra (Sandi) Richman is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the BPS and registered with HCPC and HPCSA and is a Senior Accredited Trainer and Accredited Consultant in EMDR. Her trainings are fully accredited by EMDR-Europe Association and EMDRIA. She was trained by Dr Francine Shapiro, the founder of EMDR, in 1993/94 and has used EMDR in her own practice for over 30 years. Sandi is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist supervising clinical practice in a number of trauma services in the UK and for 12 years, headed up an EMDR service within the Traumatic Stress Service at the Maudsley Hospital in South London, specialising in the treatment of acute and chronic trauma, torture and personal injury, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and dissociative disorders.
Sandi has presented keynote addresses on EMDR in the treatment of complex PTSD and torture at numerous international and national conferences. She is Past President of the EMDR UK Association and is currently a Trustee of the EMDR UK Association and is actively involved in the development of EMDR in the UK and Ireland.
She has also been part of the Trauma Aid UK, training therapists on a voluntary basis in treating with EMDR the victims of natural disaster, war conflict, torture and complex trauma. Sandi has an international reputation as a skilled senior EMDR trainer having trained therapists not only in the UK but also in numerous other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
